Nancy Roberts is a literacy specialist in the Lockport City School District in New York and has worked with grades K12. Most recently she has worked at the elementary level providing instruction to tier 3 RtI students, as well as, working collaboratively with classroom and consultant teachers. Within her years in the district she has also worked as a Literacy Coach. Her experiences have included working with students in 8:1:1, 12:1:1, 15:1, CT/504, ESL, and general education settings.
Roberts also works at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, in the graduate literacy program as an adjunct professor. Her work there includes teaching and working in the clinical experience as well as teaching a course on the changing role of a literacy specialist. Previously, she worked many years as a classroom teacher and literacy specialist in an elementary/intermediate parochial school in Buffalo.
She has presented workshops at various venues on the FIVES comprehension strategy and collaborative teaching. Along with the FIVES text she has written and co-authored journal articles. Roberts continues to work in collaboration with educators and administration on literacy issues and solutions to meet the needs for and within different student populations.
